Nautical watchmaker Panerai has joined forces with the boatbuilding arm of German aftermarket tuner, Brabus.
The first product to result from the partnership is a watch inspired by Brabus’ Shadow Black Ops series of dayboats, the limited edition Panerai Submersible S BRABUS Black Ops Edition, which takes on the tuner’s signature gunmetal grey, black and red color palate.
“When put side by side, the similarities in regard to design language and overall character of the Panerai Submersible and the BRABUS Marine line of dayboats are obvious and striking. Both are made to be functional and stylish tools for life in the marine environment and therefore this combination just makes sense” said Constantin Buschmann, CEO and owner of BRABUS.

The 47mm watch, encased in Panerai’s Carbotech composite, features the brand’s first ever skeltonized automatic movement and has been in development for three years, which resulted in the patented polarised date window, a feature which means the date appears within its aperture without the rest of the date wheel being visible in the skeletonized movement.
Panerai’s P.4001/s movement uses a high density tungsten micro-rotor and two mainspring barrels for a 72-hour power reserve. The movement also features hacking seconds with a seconds reset function to allow the time to be synchronized easily.
Also present is a unidirectional rotating bezel for dive timing, 300m water resistance, small seconds, a GMT function, an AM/PM indication on the dial and a Super-LumiNova filled power reserve visible through the sapphire crystal caseback.
Limited to just 100 pieces, the Submersible S BRABUS Black Ops Edition will be available via Panerai, priced £40,400 GBP (approximately $55,000 USD).
