Dalston plant store Prick London is rolling out a series of objects designed to help you care for your cacti and succulents. First up is a potting mat, which prevents your surfaces from getting covered in mud when you’re transferring your plants to their new homes.
The waterproof mat is available in black or purple. Each model features bold typography on its bottom, depicting one of two phrases “Shallow Roots” or “Plant”, and has button-up corners to create a barrier for any mud or water. Whatsmore, because it rolls up and folds away – it barely takes up any room in the house.
The design came about after Prick London founder Gynelle Leon realized that there wasn’t anything on the market that catered to her own personal style. “Gardening accessories are usually in bright random colors or covered in a granny-like floral pattern that doesn’t match my personal style or my home decor,” she said. “I’m constantly inspired by fashion and don’t see why we have to compromise when it comes to taking care of our plants.”
As such, Leon – who founded Prick London back in 2016 – decided to create her own, and will be rolling out subsequent launches in the months to come. “While we care for our plants, why not do it in style?,” she adds. You can purchase your plant care mat for £12.99 (approximately $15 USD) from the Prick London store in Dalston, east London, or online via the Prick London website.
Elsewhere in design, Holloway Li has just launched its debut furniture collection, which is based on the shapes of ’90s memorabilia – from lava lamps, to inflatable chairs.
