RIFARE and Sweet Villians Team Up for Exotic Succulent-Inspired Footwear

Taiwanese handmade footwear specialists Sweet Villians and Rifare have come together for a special project inspired by the exotic plants, “Dioscorea Elephantipes” and “Copiapoa Cinerea.”

Native to Chile, South America, the silverish green “Copiapoa Cinerea” plant is a rare cactus known for secreting a white waxy substance and its long black spikes. The appearance is closely replicated across a pair of slippers featuring fluffy inner lining and thick Vibram soles. Details include concealed pull tabs, small leather panels on the toe, and fabric labels across the heel and footbed.

The “Dioscorea Elephantipes” is native to South Africa, featuring a layered, rounded shape that cracks with age. The formations get deeper as the plant grows, creating layers of armor-like plates. The shoe concept, which also arrives as a laceless slipper with Vibram soles, looks to replicate the effect using Italian tanning.

The series will be available via Plant of Gods in Hong Kong and select outlets in Taiwan on June 6. Stay tuned to the socials linked below for more updates.
