Salehe Bembury Announces Official Release Date for His Anta Collaborations

Salehe Bembury and ANTA‘s SB-01 and SB-02 silhouettes caused a great deal of buzz over the course of 2020 thanks to a masterful rollout, thorough seeding campaign and veritable plethora of colorways. Now, with the first month of 2021 entering its final days, Bembury has taken to Instagram to announce an official release date for each and every colorway of both models via a set of photos starring rapper Amine.

The high-cut SB-01 is in fact two shoes in one: its internal bootie can be removed and worn individually as it has its own thin sole, or both pieces can be put together to create a sturdy-yet-technical hiking silhouette. On the other hand, the SB-02 offers up a more traditional low-top cut with signature detail provided by oval-cut synthetic overlays that brings extra support and structure to its mesh base.

Though the top half of each shoe may be vastly different, both midsoles utilize ANTA’s new “Nest” cushioning technology. Inspired by the birds’ nests Bembury would spot on his famous daily hikes, Nest is an interlaced system that provides support around a soft, cushioned core. “I took a picture of a bird’s nest with a white egg peaking through the voids in the nest,” Bembury told HYPEBEAST in a December 2020 interview. “This juxtaposition of matter and color inspired the aesthetic of the technology.”

A veritable smorgasbord of color options are set to be available across both models as well. SB-01s encompass everything from bright, ’90s-style hiking schemes to rich, earthy color palates and more, while the SB-02 includes — but is not limited to — everything from pastel pink to sporty black and orange.

As mentioned above, each and every syle will release on Bembury’s Be A Spunge webstore come January 26. The SB-01 is priced at $120 USD and the SB-02 at a mere $90 USD. In the same interview with HYPEBEAST that’s referenced above Bembury explained this inclusive price points, quipping “I challenged both ANTA and myself to create a successful sneaker for under $100 USD. Often sneakers that are below $100 USD look like it. Quality, design, and ‘cool’ are usually absent.”
