Sandra Bullock's longtime partner Bryan Randall dies aged 57

Sandra Bullock’s longtime partner Bryan Randall has died at the age of 57.

The photographer’s family revealed the sad news in a statement, explaining that he died on August 5, following a lengthy battle with ALS.

‘It is with great sadness that we share that on August 5, Bryan Randall passed away peacefully after a three-year battle with ALS,’ they said in the message, shared with People Magazine.

‘Bryan chose early to keep his journey with ALS private and those of us who cared for him did our best to honor his request.

‘We are immensely grateful to the tireless doctors who navigated the landscape of this illness with us and to the astounding nurses who became our roommates, often sacrificing their own families to be with ours.’

They added: ‘At this time we ask for privacy to grieve and to come to terms with the impossibility of saying goodbye to Bryan.’

Randall, a talented photographer and former model, met Bullock at the beginning of 2015 – when he photographed her son’s birthday party.

They became close before making their relationship public later that year and moved in together in 2016.

Although they kept much of their romance behind closed doors, the Speed actress couldn’t help but praise how her late beau stepped up for her children, Louis and Laila.

‘I’m a bulldozer. My life was already on the track and here’s this beautiful human being who doesn’t want anything to do with my life, but the right human being to be there,’ she told Jada Pinkett Smith during a candid Red Table Talk interview.

‘He’s the example that I would want my children to have. I have a partner who’s very Christian and there are two different ways of looking at things.

‘I don’t always agree with him, he doesn’t always agree with me. But he is an example, even when I don’t agree with him.

‘I’m stubborn but sometimes I need to sit back and listen and go, “You’re saying it differently but we mean exactly the same thing.”

‘It’s hard to co-parent because I just want to do it myself.’

Discussing whether she would ever walk down the aisle with Randall, following her previous divorce from first husband Jesse James, Bullock vowed that she doesn’t ‘need’ a piece of paper to be devoted to their family.

‘I am someone who went through the divorce process. I found the love of my life. We share two beautiful children – three children, [Randall’s] older daughter. It’s the best thing ever,’ she added.

‘I don’t need a paper to be a devoted partner and devoted mother.

‘I don’t need to be told to be ever present in the hardest of times. I don’t need to be told to weather a storm with a good man.’
