Saturday Kitchen viewers were left in giggles, as were the guests, when Alison Roman took a tumble and fell of a stool – and that was before the wine tasting had even begun.
The guest chef appeared on Matt Tebutt’s programme, and was preparing for Helen McGinn’s wine segment when she accidentally sat on what she thought was a chair.
American food journalist Alison brought her desserts over to the table when she attempted to sit down, but completely missed and landed on the floor.
Helen had been trying to pair rosé wine with cake when a crash was heard in the studio.
‘Are you alright?’ guest star Nina Wadia immediately asked, as Matt asked: ‘Did you just sit on the wine table?!’
‘I did,’ Alison replied back, as they all erupted into laughter.
‘We didn’t do that in rehearsal!’ she joked, confirming she’s okay.
‘Give her a drink quick!’ Matt added.
‘First things first, I’m going to pour you a massive glass of sparkling wine,’ Helen said.
Matt then replied: ‘That’s what we do in a crisis, we either drink tea or we crack open some wine.’
‘But it’s alright, nobody saw.’
But viewers certainly did, with plenty taking to Twitter to comment on the funny moment.
One person wrote: ‘There should be a public inquiry if @SaturdayKitchen doesn’t receive a BAFTA for today’s episode alone.
‘As someone who has worked on cookery shows, this is what live TV is all about – well done for getting on with it! #ShowMustGoOn #SaturdayKitchen’.
‘It’s ok, nobody noticed,’ another joked, while someone else wrote: ‘Alison Roman hope you’re ok but it was so funny’.
‘Absolute chaos this morning on #SaturdayKitchen. This is what we tune in for (and the great food and wine),’ another penned.
Someone else commented: ‘@SaturdayKitchen this is the best episode ever. Hysterical’.
Saturday Kitchen airs at 10am on BBC One.
