Strictly Come Dancing professional Giovanni Pernice has praised partner Amanda Abbington following reports she was set to quit the show.
This week rumours started swirling that there was already drama brewing behind-the-scenes of the BBC dancing series.
Actress Amanda, 49, was alleged to be threatening to quit the series – hours before the first live show of the season – as she reportedly clashed Giovanni, 33.
While a source had claimed the pair were not getting along, her representatives pushed back against the reports.
Now Giovanni has weighed in, choosing to address the speculation by making clear things are fine between the pair.
Re-sharing an image from Amanda’s Instagram, which showed her smiling during a training session, he wrote: ‘I usually don’t say those things early (as probably everybody knows) but I am extremely proud of you and I can’t wait for people to watch what we have created.’
Beside the picture, Amanda had written: ‘The smile you give your pro partner at the end of the camera rehearsal when you know you are in safe and hugely talented hands.’
The post comes after the source had said the dance partners were not getting along and had a series of arguments, with the Sherlock star apparently unhappy with Gio’s ‘militant’ attitude to training.
While they added things were currently ‘incredibly tense’ between them, a representative for Amanda told Metro.co.uk that this was untrue.
Earlier this month Amanda had been left in tears after her first day of rehearsals as she started the gruelling training schedule.
In a video shared on Instagram by her fiancé Jonathan Goodwin, Amanda struggled to sit down on the floor to put on her comfy shoes after the first day preparing for Strictly.
When asked how she was feeling, Amanda replied that she was ‘fragile’ and had ‘welled up upstairs in tears thinking about having to put my dance shoes on again’.
She also explained how she’d developed a nasty blood blister on the bottom of one foot.
The first Strictly Come Dancing live show airs tonight at 6.15pm on BBC One.
