SUNNEI has teamed up with home decor entity Bloc Studios for a material-driven collaboration. Completly cast in marble, the multicolored tableware set elevates the everyday task of dining.
After being in the works for two years, the special series collection features reversible glasses, three different-sized plates, wine coolers, a bowl and a pitcher. With simple, yet modern constructions, the range of pieces comes to life in veined marble shades of charcoal, pewter gray, deep merlot, amber, salmon and algae green. Although contemporary, the pieces contain an elevated aesthetic that will stand through time.
“During such an extended time frame, the idea evolved repeatedly but these many steps were necessary to reach a perfect synthesis of what we wanted to represent since the beginning,” said Bloc Studios’ founder Sara Ferron Cima. “Everything started from our desire to interpret conviviality through the pieces that are needed at dinner. However, this simple concept evolves into a paradox when you think that Bloc Studios is synonymous with marble. Making tableware in marble might sound like a non-sense academic exercise but it is rather exploring the limits of such material.”
