Takashi Murakami and SOPHNET. Connect for Mod Coat Release

SOPHNET. releases its latest mod coat collaboration with famed contemporary artist Takashi Murakami as a part of the ongoing ROPPONGI HILLS TAKASHI MURAKAMI PROJECT. The underlying theme of the project emphasizes the idea of “connecting hope for the future through art”.

The first stage of the project features a 10-meter high sculpture of Haha Bangla Manus placed at the entrance of Roppongi Hills at 66 Plaza. The sky-high statue was followed by the opening of the Flower Cafe at Hills Cafe/Space, offering a vibrant burst of color in the daily lives of visitors. It was particularly well-received by those affected by the pandemic as Murakami wanted to bring forward an upbeat reminder of simpler times.

To further grow the project, SOPHNET. has entered into a collaboration with the artist for a limited number of mods coats. The coat design itself is inspired by Murakami’s iconic vibrant floral motif, and on the back of the jacket is a modern silhouette of the M-65 motif. Wearers can expect an oversized fit that features a print of Murakami’s Flower Parent and Child (Ohana no Oyako) transferred directly through sheet print. The jacket is constructed with satin and includes a set of multicolored scorpion pins and a SOPHNET. removable velcro badge.

The jacket is ¥66,000 JPY, roughly $615 USD and comes in an olive green or black. Limited quantities are available SOPHNET. beginning March 5.
