The First Glimpse of Disney+'s Lizzie McGuire Reboot Is Short but Sweet

Hey now, hey now! The Lizzie McGuire reboot will be here before you know it. On New Year’s Day, Disney+ shared a video featuring all of their upcoming 2020 titles, and it includes a quick glimpse at the highly anticipated series starring Hilary Duff. Around the :44 mark, a supersmiley Lizzie walks up to a car and says “Hi, it’s me.”

The upcoming series will “revolve around Lizzie as a 30-year-old millennial navigating life in New York City,” though she might not stay in the Big Apple for long. During an appearance on Good Morning America, Duff explained that Lizzie “gets some pretty big news at the end of the episode,” and it will cause some major changes in her life. Seeing that Lizzie’s family and childhood best friend Gordo are already signed on for the show, we have a feeling she’ll be heading back home.

Though an official release for the series hasn’t been announced yet, we probably won’t have to wait too much longer now that filming is officially underway. Production for Disney+’s High School Musical: The Musical: The Series started on Feb. 15, 2019, and the first season was eventually released on Nov. 12, 2019. If Lizzie McGuire follows a similar filming schedule, that could put the release date sometime around July 2020. We are counting down the days!
