'The Proud Family' Reboot Adds Chance the Rapper, Lil Nas X and More To Star-Studded Cast

Disney+ has tapped a slew of artists to join the voice cast of its reboot of the animated series The Proud Family. Chance the Rapper, Lil Nas X and Lizzo have all signed on to the show, adding to a long list of celebrities that comprise the cast.

Created by Bruce W. Smith, the show first debuted over twenty years ago on Disney Channel and depicted the experiences of a Black family in America, with plotlines touching on racial and social issues. The new version of the series will keep its original name, followed by the subtitle Louder and Prouder.

Fans will be excited to see most of the original cast return for its revival, including Kyla Pratt as Penny Proud, Tommy Davidson as Oscar Proud, Paula Jai Parker as Trudy Proud, JoMarie Payton as Suga Mama and Cedric the Entertainer as Uncle Bobby.

Meanwhile, Billy Porter, Zachary Quinto and Keke Palmer will serve as recurring cast members. Porter and Quinto will voice gay dads and Palmer is to voice their 14-year-old activist daughter.

Also set to deliver guest appearances on the show are Normani, Tiffany Haddish, Leslie Odom Jr., Lena Waithe, Anthony Anderson, Gabrielle Union, Courtney B. Vance, Jane Lynch, Jaden Smith, Beyoncé and Solange’s mother Tina Knowles, Eva Longoria; Al Roker, who was a guest on the original run of the series; and a trio of Olympic gold medalists, Gabby Douglas, Laurie Hernandez and Dominique Dawes.

The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder does not yet have an official release date, but those wanting to catch up on the original can stream all of its seasons on Disney+.
