Billie Eilish’s “Ocean Eyes” is an emotional, wistful ballad that likely makes you want to curl up in bed and reminisce about your first love. Scary Pockets’ version, on the other hand, will make you want to jump up and dance your heart out. An LA-based cover band, Scary Pockets recently dropped its own upbeat, funky rendition of Eilish’s hit track, and it sounds like a completely different song — in the best way possible.
Lead vocalist Laura Mace lent her Kelly Clarkson-esque raspy voice to the cover, while Jack Conte played the keys, Ryan Lerman and Mason Stoops rocked out on guitar, Nisan Stewart owned the drums, and Tim Lefebvre crushed it on the bass. Listen to the amped-up cover above, then check out the band’s Spotify page to witness more of their one-of-a-kind takes on popular jams.
