This Latest Attempt From the British Media to Tarnish Meghan Markle’s Reputation Comes at a Telling Time

If you’ve seen Meghan Markle and Prince Harry‘s tell-all interview with Oprah, or their Netflix docuseries Harry & Meghan, then you know that the British media will do just about anything to defend the British royal family. And, given the Sussexes’ constant defiance from the royals, they’re not afraid to let Harry and Meghan’s reputation sink in the meantime.

Recently, for example, that was put on full display in a bombshell interview with Meghan’s estranged father, Thomas Markle. In the interview, which aired on Good Morning Britain on Sept 18, Thomas talked about his estranged relationship with Meghan, and how the Duchess completely cut ties with him following the staged paparazzi picture scandal prior to her 2018 wedding.

“I’m heartbroken. I am very upset,” Thomas said about not seeing his two grandchildren Archie and Lilibet, per Daily Mail. “This is a cruel thing to do to a grandparent – to deny the right to see a grandchild.”

In the interview, Thomas not only reiterated their previous father-daughter bond, but insisted he’s be a great grandfather too. “I’m a really loving father and she knows that, and there’s no excuse for treating me this way – no excuse to treat grandparents that way,” he said.

“I never saw the kind of woman she turned into. I am shocked,” Thomas said of the Duchess. “She is not the person I knew as my daughter.”

Thomas then continued, adding that he’d still love to reunite with Meghan and that he still loves her. “I am always here for her, I still love her – I’ll love her forever,” he said. “That will never change but I want her to reach out to me and let me see my grandkids and let me have a little peace.”

Prince Harry Refused To Answer These Specific Media Questions at the Invictus Games

The interview, which follows a series of other appearances Thomas has done in the past, comes at a telling time for the Duchess. Recently, Meghan has been in Düsseldorf, Germany, supporting her husband Harry’s Invictus Games, an adaptive sports competition for wounded, injured and sick service personnel and veterans. In addition to helping Harry with such an important cause, the Duchess has been receiving a wave of love and admiration from fans online and at the Games’ host country of Germany.

After the first few days of competition, for example, the Daily Mail couldn’t believe their eyes when they read German media and noted that “only positive headlines are being used to describe the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.” “There have yet to be negative comments about their public appearances,” the British website added.

In other words, Meghan and Harry are in a quite a high right now. The two not only organized a successful edition of the veteran-led competition, but they were being celebrated and loved for it in the meantime.

And, knowing that, isn’t the Thomas interview just too on-the-nose? In other words, the British media didn’t want the love-fest for Meghan to continue and wanted to repaint her image as a disrespectful and ungrateful daughter instead. Luckily, if you think anything like us, you know it’s all just part of a PR stunt to knock them down.
