‘Top Boy’ Announced as Sponsor For Hackney Wick FC's 2022/23 Season

London-based football club Hackney Wick FC has announced it will be sponsored by the Netflix hit Top Boy for the 2022/23 season, who has worked alongside LABRUM designer and founder Foday Dumbuya for both home and away strips.

The borough’s first ever semi-professional team, Hackney Wick FC is a club based on community engagement and uniting the local diverse groups. Founded by former gang member Bobby Kasanga in 2015, this unique collaboration sees the club unite Top Boy to an organization at the heart of the community, and enlist the works of Hackney-based designer Dumbuya at the same time.

The kits themselves feature LABRUM’s signature zig-zag motif, which is inspired by traditional African art, a nod to community and different cultures interweaving. At the center of each kit is the unmistakable Top Boy logo, while LABRUM branding can be found on the right sleeve, with Hackney Wick FC’s charity, Grassroots For Good on the left.

“Sport has a unique ability to unite communities in a shared goal – to win together. The work that Bobby has done for grassroots football by building Hackney Wick FC really resonates with me,” explains Dumbuya of the collection.

“When I was designing the kit I wanted to include a bold graphic that incorporated the rich diversity of Hackney and LABRUM’s celebration of West African heritage. The zig zag is synonymous here. I hope the players will wear the kit with pride.”
