'Valheim' Rakes in Two Million Players in Under Two Weeks

A little less than two weeks since its release, Iron Gate‘s Valheim has already managed to sell a staggering two million copies.

The Viking survival game originally launched on February 2, and brought in two million purchases in the span of just 13 days. Most impressively, the game was developed by an indie studio of just five people. It has now amassed 370,000 concurrent players daily and rose through the ranks of Steam to become the third most-played game on the platform.

The impressive feat led to the Iron Gate team publishing a thank you message on Steam in an update note, thanking fans for “all the messages, love, questions and thoughts.” It also told players that they broke a 700-year record together, topping out the largest population of Vikings ever existing on Earth, which peaked at roughly 500,000 back in the 1,300s.

Valheim is now available over on Steam for $20 USD.

Elsewhere in gaming, Microsoft has shed more light on the backwards compatibility of its Xbox Series X and S.
