Watch the Trailer for Halsey’s Upcoming IMAX Film ‘If I Can’t Have Love, I Want Power’

Halsey’s fourth studio album If I Can’t Have Love, I Want Power will be accompanied by a theatrical IMAX film of the same name. Written by the pop artist herself and directed by Colin Tilley, who previously directed the music videos for her singles “Without Me” and “You Should Be Sad,” a trailer for the hour-long film experience was shared today.

“This film is about the lifelong social labyrinth of sexuality and birth,” the trailer reads as it opens. The fast-paced visual goes on to show archaic Medieval rituals inflicted upon a woman, played by Halsey, over the course of her pregnancy and birth.

“Artists nowadays put little to no effort into their visuals but, Halsey was like: ‘Nope, not today!,’” one commenter wrote under the trailer.

If I Can’t Have Love, I Want Power was produced by Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross, who are known for their work in the rock band Nine Inch Nails.

Set to the music of the upcoming album, the August 3 film debut doubles as an early release for the album, which is currently available for pre-order and will be available to stream on August 27. Select cities and theaters will be announced soon for the film experience.
