Emma Ogle had been arrested on Halloween night but released on bond.
A North Carolina teacher accused of having sex with a student 46 years her junior has been killed in an apparent murder-suicide.
Emma Ogle, 63, was found shot dead alongside her 59-year-old husband Michael on Wednesday, one week after she was charged with a sex act with a 17-year-old pupil.
A relative went to check on Michael when he didn’t turn up for work; police then received a 911 call reporting Ogle was armed and had barricaded herself inside their Huntersville home.
Huntersville police said that when the relative got there, Emma was still alive but her husband was not.
A SWAT team descended on the house; but inside they found the couple dead with gunshot wounds, WSOCTV reported.
Ogle was a Career and Technical Education Health Occupations teacher at Garinger High School in Charlotte. She was suspended after being arrested on Halloween night and charged with having sex with a student, crimes against nature with a student and felony indecent liberties with a student.
Investigators said she began a relationship with the 17-year-old in the spring, that turned sexual during the summer.
She had been released on a $10,000 bond.
Ogle, who had one adult daughter, had been teaching at the school since 2014.
