Aldi shopper is left baffled after spotting a design blunder on her Kevin the Carrot toy
- Michelle Denny, from Fallowfield, Manchester was baffled by her plush carrot
- Purchased family of popular carrots but was left confused by the baby’s design
- Says she’s looked online to find identical version of her doll but found nothing
An Aldi shopper was left baffled after she purchased a toy of the store’s festive character, Kevin the Carrot, with a major design flaw.
Michelle Denny, from Fallowfield, Manchester was left confused when she realized her version of the cuddly Baby Carrot toy, from the tree decoration range, had a hilarious design blunder.
Her version of the toy has a unique ‘upside-down face’, and now the shopper wants to find an identical carrot online, trawling eBay to try and find the same version of the toy.
If her toy is one of a kind, it could be worth holding on to, given that shoppers have been paying four times the price for the toys online after customers struggled to get their hands on the coveted items in store and online.

The adorable baby version of the toy was left with a unique ‘upside-down face’ with the smile on top of the carrot’s head
The toy was purchased at the Fallowfield Aldi on Manchester’s Lloyd Street and Michelle remains hopeful that she’ll find a carrot with the same design.
Michelle told Manchester Evening News ‘I bought the Christmas tree decoration pack of Chantenay, Jasper and Baby Carrot, but my Baby Carrot has a upside down smile.
‘I’ve looked through eBay and lots of other places and can’t find another one [Like it].’
Although the Kevin The Carrot range is now available in stores, last week, the budget supermarket sparked a frenzy online.

Parents rushed to purchase merchandise of the store’s festive character – after they sold out within hours of going on sale.
Thousands of fans queued online for the new products – which this year include themed pyjamas for the whole family, an inflatable snow globe and a soft toy of Kevin the Carrot’s new Russel the Sprout enemies the ‘Leafy Blinders’.
Those who didn’t manage to get their hands on the stuffed toys took to Twitter to criticise the lack of stock – despite the German firm reassuring the public the merchandise will be available in stores later on that week.
Furious parents also hit out at sellers on eBay when the sought-after toys started appearing on the website within hours of it selling out online.
The line also includes giant Kevin and Katie plush toys, as well as a giant unicorn, all priced as £19.99
The most inflated cost appeared to be a three-foot-tall Kevin priced at £100 – five times the original asking price.
Some shoppers were so dedicated they admitted to staying up until 3am to buy the highly-anticipated Christmas gifts.
Demand was so high for the toys that Aldi limited the purchase to two soft toys of each character per person, and also increased the volume of products on offer.
Yet many fans were left unimpressed with the size of online queues, which reached up to thousands.
‘Trying to get onto the Aldi website to find I’m in a queue of 10,000 people all because they want a Kevin The Carrot. Mental. What’s happening to the world,’ wrote one, while a second penned:
‘Having gone to Aldi website at 12am this morning to order Kevin The Carrot, imagine my horror to find out I was number 10,733 in the queue!’
A third added: ‘The face you make when you’ve been in the queue for the Aldi site for ages to find out there’s no Kevin The Carrots left.’
