There’s nothing “complicated” about Avril Lavigne and her boyfriend Mod Sun’s budding new romance.

The couple cemented their relationship status with some PDA on a playful beach date in Santa Monica, Calif., on Wednesday to mark the occasion of Mod Sun’s 34th birthday.

The pair opted for casual attire, with Lavigne, 36, wearing an oversized black sweatshirt with matching red plaid pants and sunglasses.

Meanwhile, Mod Sun — whose real name is Derek Smith — wore a backwards trucker hat, his own drastically oversized sweater and combat boots.
