When it comes to dressing for the ever-changing weather we’re currently dealing with, we need clothes that are transitional, comfortable and adaptable.
You know the sort – pieces that work just as well when it's humid and sunny as they do when it's chilly and rainy.
Dresses are a perfect example of adaptable, transitional clothing, as they can be worn on their own with a light jacket to embrace the sunshine, or paired with tights and a coat when the temperature drops.
Whilst searching for some new items to add to our seasonal wardrobe, we discovered the perfect dress from FatFace that manages to check all the boxes and is warm enough to wear when the seasons change.
The Ivory Devin Embroidered Dress, £48 here (was £79), is the perfect boho-inspired mini dress that would look just as good with gladiator sandals as it would with biker boots, meaning you can wear it no matter the season.
Made from a blend of cotton, linen and viscose, the dress marries summer-appropriate fabrics with long puffy sleeves and a subtle V neckline, so you can stay cool in the heat and covered up when it gets chilly.
With all over embroidery, a shirred waistband and flared skirt, it's the ultimate flattering fit and silhouette that can be worn just about anywhere and is perfect for nailing the Sienna Miller-approved boho-chic vibe that’s proven to be popular over the last few months – just add cowboy boots and a fringe jacket to be festival ready.
Oh, and how could we forget the best of all of its design details… pockets! The two side pockets are hidden in the skirt, making the mini dress practical and effortless to wear.
The dress has been reduced from £79 to just £48 here in the FatFace sale, and is still available in all sizes from 6-24. You can also choose from two different lengths, regular and long, so you can find the perfect fit for you.
Sizes 6 and 8 are currently sold out in the regular length, but for those of you blessed with a little extra height – or who just favour a slightly longer fit – there is still the full size range in stock in the long length.
The dress has already been snapped up by plenty of happy shoppers, with glowing reviews of the dress raving about its comfortable and unique style.
One review read: “I’d been looking for a white dress that was summery yet not short sleeved and am thrilled with this. The embroidery makes it eye-catching and it looks great styled with a denim jacket. I’m looking forward to wearing it lots this summer and autumn … it’s so versatile.”
Another wrote: “Love the style, and that it comes in lengths!! stitching gives it a nice unique flair. My only complaint is that the material is pretty thick/heavy so this will have to be a fall dress for me.”
A third agreed the dress’ material was on the thicker side, saying: “Beautiful, well-made dress, eye-catching embroidery, very comfortable. I ordered reg size 10, it is true to size and it is knee length on me (exactly what I wanted) and I am 5’7”. I love the flowy skirt and pockets, although my husband commented the skirt looks a bit wide when on.. something to maybe keep in mind 🙂 the lining makes it not see-through which is normally an issue with summer dresses this colour. It is true it is slightly warmer, but it does have long sleeves and I will be wearing it on slightly cooler summer days and evenings.”
Although we think the slightly thicker fabric makes it the perfect transitional dress, if you’re looking for something a little more lightweight, this Next Linen Blend Tiered Mini Dress, £36 here , comes in four different colours including black, and a white version with trending lemon-print design.
