Burger King is giving away free Whoppers today, but only if you bring a printed photo of your ex to the restaurant with you.
If you are reading this on the day the article was published, then it is Valentine’s Day 2020. For people with a partner of some sort, February 14 is a joyous day on which the two of you can celebrate your love. For people without a partner, it’s a reminder that you’re single and forces you to remember all the people you dated in the past.
So yeah, not that great a day on the calendar for anyone who isn’t in a relationship. Given too much time alone to think about past flames might even result in someone rifling through old photos and mementos, thinking about what once was. This year, that might not be such a bad thing, as stumbling upon an old photo of an ex can land you a free burger.

Burger King is giving away a free Whopper in exchange for a photo of a customer’s ex this Valentine’s Day. The offer is being run in conjunction with new movie Harley Quinn: Birds Of Prey, reports Delish. Restaurants in New York City, Los Angeles, Boston, and San Francisco are taking part in the promotion.
Selected locations across the four cities will have Birds Of Prey-themed “break-up boxes.” Any customers who bring a printed photo of an ex with them to BK and stuffs it into one of the boxes will receive a Whopper free of charge. That is the one caveat, though. It has to be a printed photo. No scrolling through Facebook at the till and showing your ex’s face, unless you’re willing to stuff your phone into a burger box for a free Whopper, we guess.
If you can’t find a photo or don’t have the means to print one out, certain BK locations in NYC will accept a letter or even a piece of clothing that belonged to your ex. The promotion is only running on Valentine’s Day so if you are reading this over the weekend, you’ve missed your chance. You’ll either have to wait and hope BK runs the same promotion next year, or get rid of those photos and mementos the old-fashioned way. A ceremonial burning in a trash can out back.
