Chrissy Teigen took to Instagram last week to tease fans with what appeared to be freshly-dyed purple hair – but which actually turned out to just be a clever photo filter. But it appears that the model liked the effect, as today she emerged on social media with lilac-hued locks that look much more real.
The proud mum shocked her followers when she posted a gorgeous stream of snaps of her bold new hair transformation to Instagram – raking in almost 800K likes.
At a first glance, you’d think that the star’s new hair colour was the result of a professional dye job – but it appears that Chrissy is merely experimenting with the pastel look, admitting that she’s wearing a wig in the caption of her post.

“The wig life…chose me,” Chrissy wrote.
The star looked flawless in the snaps where she can be seen posing in a supermarket, showing off her new gorgeous locks in public.
Fans flocked to the comment section to show their love.

Many of the star’s 33 million followers were shocked that her new look was the result of a wig.

“Wait, is it really a wig,” one fan said, “you had me fooled.”
“This is a wig, it looks so real,” another wrote.
Chrissy shared the transformation process on her Instagram stories, first posing in a wig cap, before her hair stylist applied the wig and tidied up the edges.
Chrissy then unveiled her new look in a stream of clips, where she says, “Here’s the deal, trying to work out how to rock this now.”
“It’s confusing,” she jokes, before deciding which outfit to match with her new purple look.
Chrissy tagged the glam team responsible for her transformation on her Instagram post, and hairstylist Jayy HairStyles reposted a clip of the star’s new look, captioning it “Happy client, Full custom lace wig Installed, provided and styled by me @hair_by_jay1 ”.
To achieve the look, Chrissy’s real hair was braided before the lace wig was applied to give a more natural finish.
