The Eat Out to Help Out scheme launches in August, with discounts on food across the UK in restaurants, cafes and pubs. Customers can enjoy 50 percent off their food up to £10 per head in the scheme launched by Chancellor Rishi Sunak earlier this month.
With August nearing, many may be wondering which restaurants are taking part in the scheme, and where the best savings can be had.
If you are out and about, posters declaring the scheme will be able to be seen in participating restaurants.
The discounts are available every Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday throughout August in order to encourage footfall in Britain’s hospitality sector after months of lockdown.
So which coffee shops are taking part? Are Starbucks, Costa and Pret participating?

Starbucks
Starbucks are participating in the scheme, meaning food and drink will be 50 percent off up to £10 per head.
This means getting your lunch out could cost you a lot less than usual.
You could pick up a medium latte, ham and cheese panini and funfetti cupcake for just £5.37 instead of £10.75.
Costa Coffee
Costa Coffee is also participating in the scheme, with up to 50 percent off their food and drink across stores nationwide.
However, Costa has recommended its franchise partners also participate in the ‘Eat Out to Help Out’ Scheme, however, anyone looking to enjoy the saving should check prices in store first.
Neil Lake, Managing Director of Costa Coffee UK&I, said: “We’re delighted to have signed up to the Government’s ‘Eat Out to Help Out’ Scheme, offering customers the opportunity to sit in store, relax and enjoy a perfectly hand-crafted cup of coffee and their favourite Costa Coffee food, for less.
“With over 1,700 Costa Coffee stores offering an eat-in area, no minimum spend required and a new summer range available in stores, customers will be spoilt for choice over what to enjoy.

“The safety of our team members and customers remains our number one priority and our eat-in areas have been designed in line with Government guidelines, with enhanced safety and operating measures in place to help ensure we keep everyone safe.”
If you’re heading to Costa with your family, a Flat White, Iced Latte, Frostino, Lemonade, Ham & Cheese Toastie, Italian Mozzarella and Tomato Panni, Chocolate Caramel and Hazelnut Cookie and Rolo Muffin would ordinarily cost £22.95, however with the VAT reduction and 50 percent off it now costs just £10.04.
Pret
Pret will also be participating in the Treasury’s voucher scheme.
So every Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday in August customers sitting in can enjoy 50 percent off their food and drink.
Customers eating in Pret stores are being asked to provide their contact details as part of the Government’s track and trace programme.
You can do this by by scanning a QR code with your phone when seated at a table.
Pret are also giving back the VAT savings to their customers, so eating in will cost you even less in August.
As a result of the rate reduction, the price of an eat-in tuna mayo baguette at Pret will cost £1.57 instead of £3.60.
A takeaway ham and cheese croissant will cost just to £1.05 compared to £2.40.
And a cappuccino will cost £1.20, compared with £2.75 before the VAT cut and Eat Out to Help Out scheme.
