We’re well and truly into the festive period which means that the Christmas tree’s are up and the lights are twinkling all around the home.
It’s an acceptable time to play your favourite Christmas tunes at the highest volume and not be judged.
This also brings the cosy winter evenings where we can get snuggled on the sofa with a hot chocolate in hand and binge on all the best Christmas movies.
From The Holiday, Love Actually and even Netflix’s ultimate cringe-worthy movies, we can’t get enough.
As much as we love re-watching these nostalgic films over and over again, we also appreciate the iconic festive outfits from some of our fave movie stars.
So we’ve taken it upon ourselves to round up the ultimate looks from some Christmas classics – that will also give you some inspiration on what to wear throughout the festive break.
The Holiday
Coat, Mango, Was £149.99, Now £104.99 here
Roll neck, Peacocks, Was £18, Now £14.40 here
Jeans, River Island, £35 here
Heels, Dune London, Was £48, Now £24 here
Sunglasses, Quay Australia, £49 here
Bag, Cath Kidston, Was £95, Now £45 here
Firstly, we had to start with this classic rom-com, The Holiday, which we probably watch around 10 times over the festive period.
Cameron Diaz plays movie trailer producer Amanda Woods and she has some great style.
As much as we love this moment in the film where Amanda has to trek to her new home in heels, this has to be one of our favourite looks from the whole movie.
Hat, Reserved, £12.99 here
Scarf, Accessorize, Was £19.99, Now £9.50 here
Cardigan, &Other Stories, £85 here
Lilac top, Zara, £4.99 here
Grey bottoms, Marks and Spencer, £25 here
We can all agree that 2020 has seen plenty of us invest and upgrade our loungewear.
Whether it’s a tie-dye set or comfy separates just like Cameron Diaz’s character, put comfort first and get cosy.
Home Alone
Coat, Topshop, £69.99 here
Scarf, Oliver Bonas, £18 here
Kevin’s mum is an underrated character in the hit film, yet we simply adore her. Obviously not for leaving her child alone at home, but for this killer coat she wears in the film.
Not only does the character have a chic style but we’re filled with coat envy and we’ve found an affordable version so you can look just as good whilst strutting along the street.
Love Actually
Coat, H&M, £49.99 here
Beret, The House Of Bruar, £19.95 here
It could be argued that Love Actually is one of the greatest Christmas movies of all times.
Throughout the film we follow many characters’ trials and tribulations but one scene that stays in our mind is when Martine McCutcheon’s character runs and jumps on to Hugh Grant.
The red coat is giving us Kate Middleton vibes whilst the beret is serving up Emily In Paris.
Mean Girls
Dress, Ann Summers, £30 here
Gloves, Claire’s Accessories, £5.10 here
Santa hat, Amazon, £3.99 here
Black boots, New Look, Was £39.99, Now £29.99 here
We know this isn’t from a Christmas film but we had to include this iconic scene from movie history.
In Mean Girls we see the foursome take to the stage to perform a dance routine to the Christmas song ‘Jingle Bell Rock’ and unfortunately it doesn’t really do that.
However, it’s the costumes that caught our eyes and we’ve found a great alternative for you to wear on the big day.
Bridget Jones Diary
Jumper, Shein, £17.49 here
Again, it’s not known as a Christmas movie but it’s another favourite of many people.
Whilst Bridget is mainly known for her mini skirts and tight dresses, when she visits her mum and dad’s for the annual ugly Christmas party, she ticks all the boxes.
We’re quickly approaching the big day so whether you’re a ‘Bridget’ or an ‘Amanda’ then make sure you’re looking your best, no matter how you are celebrating this year.
