Halsey’s son Ender’s former nanny has sued the singer for wrongful termination and discrimination, but Halsey claims the caretaker left their child unsupervised and drank on the job.
“These allegations are baseless,” a rep for Halsey, 27, told “Entertainment Tonight” of Ashley Funches’ suit in a statement published Thursday.
“This individual’s employment was recently terminated in response to specific incidents in which Halsey’s infant was left unsupervised in an unsafe location while under the nanny’s care, and it was discovered the nanny was intoxicated while the child was in her care,” the rep claimed.
The statement went on to allege that Funches did not raise “any complaints” during her time of employment.
While Halsey, who uses the pronouns she/they, felt “saddened and disappointed” over the whole ordeal, the songwriter felt it was important to “refute these allegations publicly,” the rep continued.
“[Halsey takes] ableism and ethical working conditions very seriously,” the statement concluded. “Halsey wants to be absolutely clear that they remain a vocal advocate both against ableism and for ethical working conditions.”
Funches is reportedly suing Halsey and her company, Halsey Music, for allegedly firing her after taking time off work for a medical emergency. She claimed the dismissal was illegal, according to documents obtained by The Blast Thursday.
The nanny was hired in 2021 as a “live-in personal attendant for [Halsey’s] newborn child,” per the suit.
While employed by the Grammy nominee, Funches alleged in her legal filing that she “worked around the clock” with “little to no day of rest,” claiming that the “Without Me” artist did not pay her overtime.
After complaining about being overworked, Funches reportedly received an extra $5,000. But when she texted Halsey in March 2022 saying she had to miss a few days of work for a medical procedure, the nanny was “terminated … a few days later, without any warning or response,” her suit alleged.

Funches’ lawsuit reportedly called the firing “deliberate, cold, callous, fraudulent and intentional manner in order to injure and damage [the nanny] with a conscious disregard of her rights.”
The court documents read, “As a direct and proximate cause of the aforementioned violations, [the nanny] has suffered, and continues to suffer, substantial losses related to the use and enjoyment of such wages and lost interest in such wages.”
Halsey gave birth to their first child, a baby boy named Ender Ridley Aydin, in July 2021. They share their son with partner Alev Aydin.
Halsey’s rep did not immediately respond to Page Six’s request for comment.
