Former X Factor contestant Frankie Cocozza made headlines when he appeared on the show in 2011 – first for his ‘bad boy’ image and then later for getting kicked off the show for discussing drugs.
Frankie, now 29, was booted off the show over a decade ago after “breaking a golden rule” – with it later revealed that he’d boasted about using cocaine in front of producers.
Ten years on, Frankie has admitted he still struggles with drug abuse, telling The James Smith podcast last week: “I'm a drug addict. Simple as that. I just am. I love cocaine. I'm sorry, I do.
"I know that if money hadn't run out, I'd still be snorting gear. It's a fact."
However, a lot has changed for Frankie since he first found fame on the reality show.
Here’s everything you need to know about what happened to Frankie Cocozza after leaving the show…
He appeared on Big Brother after X Factor
After leaving the X Factor in 2011 due to his drug habit, Frankie was scouted for Celebrity Big Brother, and finished in second place in the ninth series.
He then went on to release music of his own, and his debut single Catastrophic Casanova reached an impressive number 19 in the iTunes charts.
His success saw him amass a £200,000 fortune, but the money didn’t long – as Frankie admitted to blowing all his hard-earned cash on fun and partying.
Speaking on the podcast, he admitted he’d done drugs with A listers at the height of his fame – but stopped short of naming names.
Frankie recalled: "I've sniffed cocaine with people that you just wouldn't in a million years believe it.
"I'm an 18-year old kid and they’re doing it with him. It’s insane. No one gives a f***.”
Frankie is now a married man
Frankie made headlines when he first appeared on X Factor, for showing the list of girls’ names he claimed to have slept with tattooed on his bum.
A decade later, however, he seems to have calmed down somewhat, marrying his wife Bianca in 2018.
The couple got married in Brighton and Frankie’s bride Bianca broke convention by wearing a gold vintage wedding dress.
He has a son with wife Bianca
Despite laughing off his addiction, Frankie added that he's trying to stay clean for the sake of his young son, Frankie Jr.
Frankie and Bianca welcomed their son in May 2019, with Frankie saying in his podcast interview about his drug use: “I have made a conscious effort to try and stop since the bubba’s been born.
"I feel bad because I’m saying I love it and that, but I know what I need to do as a dad now, and that’s not to do it."
He shared a sweet series of photo to celebrate his son’s first birthday in 2020, writing: “What a blinding year we’ve had. Happy first birthday son. Very proud of you both @biancacocozza”.
He lives in Australia and has a new band
After years of living in Brighton, Frankie finally swapped the UK for Australia, where he moved to be with wife Bianca in her home country.
After previously admitting he didn’t have to get a “real job” for years after X Factor, Frankie shared how he’d spent some time working on a building site after his money ran out.
However, it seems he’s started making music again, tagging the band Monday Moon on his Instagram profile – although they don’t seem to have any official releases yet.
He also does personalised messages through celebrity video site Cameo, where you can get the star to say (pretty much) anything you want for just £19 a pop.
