Inside Hollyoaks’ new bad boy actor Robert Beck’s life including his career and famous wife

He’s no stranger to soapland, but now actor Robert Beck has been announced as Hollyoaks’ new villain.

Robert, 52, will take on the role of Brad King's former business associate and Trish Minniver's ex-boyfriend, Fergus Collins.

And it becomes pretty clear pretty quickly that Fergus is bad news, as he tries to recruit Brad for a dodgy deal and reignite their past feud.

But this isn’t the first time Robert has starred in soap land, having won fans in numerous shows.

He first sprang to fame in another Channel 4 soap, Brookside, where he played character Peter Harrison from 1991 to 1993.

Rob continued to carve out an impressive television career, as he later stepped into the shoes of Gavin Ferris in Emmerdale, Coronation Street’s Jimmy Dockerson and as a guest star in BBC soap Doctors.

However this isn’t Robert’s only connection to the world of soap, as he’s also married to a very familiar face.

Robert married his former Corrie co-star Jane Danson, best known as Leanne Battersby after they met at the British Soap Awards. The couple have two sons, Harry Alexander Jack, 15, and Sam Alfie Robert, 12.

Speaking about landing his latest part in the popular Channel 4 soap Hollyoaks, Robert said: “I’m over the moon to be given this opportunity.”

“I couldn’t really feel more at home, especially having started my career here with Brookside,” he continued.

“Everyone has been so welcoming, including many old faces who were around in my Brookie days.”

“Working with Denise [Welch, who plays Trish] and Nikki [Sanderson, who plays Maxine] is great – I know them both and they’ve really helped me settle in,” he added.

The star then went on to tease some intriguing details about his new alter-ego – warning that fans may not be keen on his antics.

Robert explained: “Fergus is a lovely character to play. He’s cheeky, but he’s a man you really wouldn’t want as an enemy.”

He then added: “To be honest you would probably have to be pretty careful if he was your friend…”

Robert when he makes his much-anticipated Hollyoaks debut on Tuesday, March 16 on Channel 4.
