Mum praises Thomas Cook hostess who saved toddler’s life before losing her job

A grateful mum has heaped praise on a Thomas Cook flight attendant who saved her toddler from choking on one of the collapsed airline's last flights.

On Monday morning the iconic travel company ceased trading, leaving 600,000 customers stranded abroad and putting 21,000 people out of a job.

In their number was Jill Clark, who came to the rescue of Lisa McKechnie's two-year-old Jude, Glasgow Live reported .

Twenty members of the McKechnie family were on a flight to Cancun in Mexico on September 3 when the young boy started struggling to breath.

Jill, from Glasgow, noticed Jude was struggling and rushed to his aid.

Lisa, 28, said:"I had bought Jude Play-Doh to help keep him entertained on the flight. We had just got onto the plane and I was getting our stuff organised and putting our seat belts on.

"Jude had just started playing with the Play-Doh and the next thing I turned around and he looked like he couldn't breathe.

"He couldn't talk and was starting to boak.

"He was really struggling. I knew he must have put a bit into his mouth. I started to panic and called for help. My mum tried to help too but we just couldn't get it out."

In the heat of the moment Lisa froze, unsure of what to do.

Luckily Jill was there to grab the youngster from his seat and start whacking his back.

"It was my worst nightmare unfolding in front of my eyes and Jill came to our rescue," Lisa said.

"She saved him and I will be forever grateful. What she did for us that day was priceless."
