Mum shares hack to keep favourite ice cream safe from kids

It’s funny the minute kids spot ice cream in the freezer, they want to have some but they don’t tend to have the same reaction to a bag of frozen peas.

One mum decided to use this to her advantage and has been saving up veg bags to hide her favourite treats.

With the kids unaware there’s ice cream in the freezer, it’s all hers to enjoy after they go to bed.

The Australian woman called Lisa posted on Facebook showing three tubs of ice cream wrapped in wrappers for green vegetables and roast potatoes.

She said: ”These [ice cream tubs] only last a week, I’ve had these for four weeks now, and the kids still haven’t found them.’

Others loved the idea and said they would be trying it out with their families.

One posted: ‘This is so brilliant, I do it with my chocolate but didn’t even think to do it with my ice cream.’

Another added: ‘I could use this hack for my husband in the same way!’

She’s not the only mum who has found interesting ways to hide snacks.

Last month, we brought you the story of a mum who has set up a secret spot for her crisps and sweets on the back of a door.

Everything is hidden in an over-the-door storage rack and when the kids open it, it sits up against a wall.

But when the door is closed, the mum can take her pick and enjoy.

Another mum with a toddler doesn’t have as much of a problem with him rifling through cupboards, but simply getting a bite of anything when he is around is impossible.

To help, she hides her ice cream bars behind lettuce leaves to make him think she’s just having salad.
