Nurse crochets tiny Baby Yoda hats for newborn babies

Like babies? Like Yoda, the loveable and wise character from Star Wars?

Then you probably already love Baby Yoda (not his official name, but the director of The Mandalorian has said we’re officially allowed to call the cute soup-carrying creature just that).

But you’ll also likely find babies wearing Baby Yoda hats absolutely adorable.

Handy, then, that a nurse UPMC Magee Women’s Hospital in Pittsburgh has granted our festive wish by dressing newborn babies up as though they are Baby Yoda celebrating Christmas.

By that we mean Caitlin Pechin has knitted the babies their own little hats with Yoda-esque green ears and a Santa-style hat on top. Yes, that is hatception.

Nurse Caitlin crocheted the hats in her own time as part of a yearly hospital tradition.

The hospital is known for keeping newborn babies warm and cosy in seasonal outfits, having previously popped the snoozing kiddos in their own festive stockings.

Each hat took around an hour and a half to make, so required quite a lot of time and care.

After receiving their hats, all the babies were dressed in onesies reading: ‘Cute I am’.

Then they were photographed, so they can look back at this moment many, many years later and ask why everyone was so momentarily obsessed with a fictional green character (no, not Shrek. Not Kermit either. Yoda. We really do like those green boys, don’t we?).

Here’s hoping all the babies born at the hospital in December fulfil their destiny and go on to love Star Wars. Who knows how many more spin-offs there’ll be by the time they’re old enough to watch the series.
