PHOTOS: Denver officials join in seventh day of demonstrations after the killing of George Floyd

Mayor Michael Hancock joined thousands of protesters on Denver’s streets Wednesday, asking them if they’re ready to get to work on the issues that brought them there.

“It’s easy to march. It’s easy to talk. But the real success of this movement is when it’s over,” the African-American mayor said. “If we’re all tired of talking then, yes, it’s time to get to work.”

Hancock received a mostly warm reception at the seventh day of city protests over the death of George Floyd at police hands in Minneapolis last week. Others cheered when a speaker called out Colorado Gov. Jared Polis for not attending any of the protests.

Despite threatening weather, a diverse crowd of thousands returned downtown early Wednesday evening to protest Floyd’s death.
