Simone Biles can’t be stopped. The gymnast reminded the world just how talented she is—and made history—during the Artistic Gymnastics World Championships 2019 on Saturday.The 22-year-old Olympian mastered a double-double dismount off the beam, which will now be known as the “Biles.” Then, she began her floor routine by flawlessly landing a triple-double. ICYDK, that’s a double backflip with three twists (three!!). That signature move will forever be known as the “Biles II.”
According to NPR, in order for a gymnast to have a move named after them, they have to 1) submit it for consideration and 2) successfully land it at a major competition, like, say, the Gymnastics World Championships or Olympics. Well, Simone managed to do this not just once, but twice—at a single competition.
“My goal going into tonight was to not be great… it wasn’t to do great, but just to do well, and I feel like I accomplished that,” Simone told the Olympic channel. (Btw, she already has 20 Worlds medals so…you gotta admit she’s pretty great.)
While Simone humbly celebrated making history, several celebrities, friends, and fans couldn’t help but sing her praises. In an Instagram post, Simone wrote: “qualifications was successful. two more biles’ down in the code. made all event finals = one happy girl.”

Her boyfriend, acrobat Stacey Ervin Jr., commented on the post writing, “Do your hands ever get tired from writing so much of the history books? I’m so proud of you. ❤️” (Brb, grabbing tissues).
Then, Lebron James joined in on the praise. From one GOAT to another, the basketball star tweeted,”Simone you are flat out INCREDIBLE!!!”

Of course, landing history-making moves like Simone does isn’t by coincidence. She works hard both on and off the mat.In a 2016 interview, Simone told Women’s Health all about her intense pre-Olympic training.
“Last year, we did cross-training. We swam twice a week—almost a mile! I swore I was going to drown, it was so hard, and then we would run,” she said. “And the year before that, we would bike 10 miles outside once a week. If we didn’t bike, we would run a mile before practice, and as soon as we finished the mile we’d have to go inside and do a beam routine. My legs were absolute jello.”
Thankfully, her legs have recovered. Congrats, Simone!
