A new website has made finding a delivery slot so much easier and works in the same way as price comparison websites where users enter their postcode. The online tool is a product of Jason Moore, who came up with the idea for Shopping Slot after he was unable to find slots for his vulnerable family members.
Find supermarket delivery slots near you
To put the idea into action, Jason teamed up with Apprentice star Sabrina Stocker, who was put in charge of the business and financial aspect of the business.
Sabrina told Metro: “That’s why Jason approached me, because he’s amazing at software but hasn’t got business experience, in terms of scaling it up.
“So we had a phone call and within seven days we had our company, a registered company house, a bank account and we changed the whole dynamic of the website – since then it’s massively soared.”
Sabrina and Joe still haven’t met in person due to the lockdown measures in place.

The Shopping Slot website has already received more than 17,028 searches and 12,000 unique visitors since launching on April 7.
The website has helped people get their hands on 68,790 delivery slots in just over a week.
Sabrina said the tool was designed with social responsibility as the aim.
She added: “It’s important in two ways. The first is to show if there are any slots in your area.
“Second is getting out the word of social responsibility – so if you can go to the supermarket, leave the home deliveries for those who really need it.
“Hopefully, we are trying to get both those messages out at the same time.”
Visitors are able to search as many times as they like on the website currently, but Sabrina says the plan is to expand whereby users will get a WhatsApp message when a delivery slot becomes available in their area.
Sabrina continues: “Because we are only a week old, we have nothing backing us.

“At the moment, we have a subscription so people get email notifications – so when your postcode is registered, you’ll get notified when there’s a slot in your area.”
Sabrina says added investment will help make the WhatsApp idea a reality, and will enable them to build a software to recognise if someone is elderly or vulnerable and prioritise them.
The duo also want to expand to accommodate local suppliers and food businesses as well as supermarket chains.
They hope to incorporate companies like Hello Fresh and Muscle food, so people have food alternatives if they can’t get a supermarket slot.
Sabrina says she hopes the business idea will inspire other entrepreneurs to pursue their ideas during the lockdown.
She added:”So many local businesses have changed their model because of the virus and now do home delivery – but people don’t know about it.”
“Jason and I have done it and we’ve never met – we work from our sofas while isolation and running our own businesses.”
Deliveroo
Food delivery firm Deliveroo has teamed up with Morrisons to deliver food shopping to people self isolating.
Customers can order through the app or on the Deliveroo website as though making a normal restaurant order.
The service is available throughout over 130 Morrisons stores across the country and covers one in four households – equalling 6.8million people.
All products are priced the same as they are in store, with a selection of over 70 essential items, and the delivery fee is £4.99 for customers without Deliveroo plus.
