Burger mogul Simon Crowe and his family bought a Toorak home with the lot, and now they’ve added the perfect side.
After spending more than $22 million on their stunning residence last year, the family’s latest purchase is the $5.9 million house next door.
The new addition was settled in the name of Crowe’s wife, Sophie, late last year, public records show.
Set on just over 600 square metres, the home is not subject to a heritage overlay.
It changed hands in a quiet deal, without being listed publicly.
Crowe and two colleagues founded the Grill’d burger chain in 2004 and the business was valued at more than $450 million by industry experts in 2019, before the pandemic hit.

His main home is a six-bedroom, grand 19th century Victorian that comes with a kitchen ideal for entertaining, complete with butler’s pantry, two dishwashers and three ovens.
The renovated main residence has a tennis court, swimming pool, charming outdoor dining area, a basement cellar and an upstairs terrace with views over Toorak. It was once owned by Gold Logie winner Steve Vizard and its most recent vendors were fund manager Alastair Hunter and Sarah Jane Hunter.
Buying the place next door is not an unusual strategy in elite property circles, and can allow home owners flexibility to preserve views or expand their accommodation.
The billionaire Geminder family have spent years buying properties that adjoin their historic mansion, Thanes, in Kooyong.
Chemist Warehouse cofounder Jack Gance’s family spent at least $30 million buying two mansions next door to each other in Toorak to create a landholding of more than 4260 square metres.
Trucking magnate Lindsay Fox has also bought up neighbouring blocks of land to create a Portsea compound.
Healthcare boss Dr Sam Hupert and his wife Jacky paid $14.12 million to buy their next-door neighbour’s home in Toorak in another quiet deal.
