Well, she is a grandmother.
The Queen has a photo of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle on display in her home at Buckingham Palace — despite the couple’s contentious exit from the British royal family.
The portrait of her grandson, 36, and Markle, 39, could be seen in the background of Queen Elizabeth II’s meeting with the United Kingdom’s Prime Minister Boris Johnson on Wednesday.
The photo was propped on a table beside other family photos, including one of Harry’s brother Prince William and his wife Kate Middleton, as well as another framed pic of the Queen herself with her late husband Prince Philip.
Relations between Markle and Harry and Buckingham Palace have been tense following the couple’s tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey in March where they claimed members of the royal family had questioned what their son Archie’s skin color would be.
Markle also claimed that the royal family did nothing to help her when she came forward and told them that she’d been experiencing suicidal thoughts as a result of royal life.
However, Markle and Harry have discussed being on good terms with the 95-year-old monarch, and a royal expert insists that the Queen was uninvolved in the racism controversy.
Things do appear to be solid between the Queen and the couple at this point: She even congratulated Meghan and Harry after they welcomed their second child, daughter Lilibet, earlier this month.
“The Queen, The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall, and The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have been informed and are delighted with the news of the birth of a daughter for The Duke and Duchess of Sussex,” the spokesperson said.
And as Page Six exclusively reported, Meghan and Harry will be invited to the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee in June 2022 and won’t be “iced out.” Maybe they can squeeze in time for a new family photo.
