Remember the legend that was Grumpy Cat? Well, we may have found a trio of kitties that can match his dour mood.
Boris, Dennis and Freja are a trio of Don Sphynx cats from Stockholm, Sweden.
Human resources manager and owner, Sophia Lexelius, 45, shares the lives of her beloved pets on her Instagram page, and followers are completely obsessed with their constantly disgruntled facial expressions.
‘Taking these pictures have been a fun way to document life with my three wonderful cats who follow me wherever I go,’ says Sophia.
‘I started an Instagram account in August 2020 and many of my pictures have gone viral.
‘They often act just like dogs and always love attention, to the point where they even sleep with me at night in bed.’
Sophia adopted her first cat Boris in 2018 because he couldn’t be bred due to a host of problems with his health.
‘But he is feeling just fine now, and you can see the joy of life in his eyes,’ she adds.
‘Freja came from a breeder in Latvia by boat and Dennis came from Russia via a plane.
‘It took a few weeks before they all became friends and now, they are just inseparable.’
The Don Sphynx is a hairless cat breed of Russian origin.
The breed started in 1987 with the discovery of a hairless cat in the Russian city of Rostov-on-Don by cat breeder Elena Kovaleva. She had rescued a blue tortoiseshell kitten, which began to lose its fur at four months old. The cat mated with a local tomcat and produced a litter of kittens; these kittens are the founding stock of the Don Sphynx breed.
