Tom Girardi is no longer a lawyer.
The once-famed plaintiff’s attorney was stripped of his admission to the California State Bar on Tuesday, per state records obtained by Page Six on Wednesday. As a result, he is no longer eligible to practice law.
Girardi, 81, opened his namesake firm, Girardi and Keese, over fifty years ago, but has run into a string of legal troubles as of late.
His wife of two-plus decades, “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” star Erika Jayne, filed for divorce in November weeks before the former couple was sued by a law firm representing the victims of Lion Air Flight 610 for allegedly embezzling money as part of their divorce.
Unfortunately for the victims, Girardi proceeded to plead poverty in court. The case against them is ongoing.
Also in December, Girardi’s former firm partner, Robert Keese, sued to dissolve their business venture, 1126 Wilshire Partnership. Keese and other attorneys alleged that Girardi did not pay them the estimated $315,000 they earned from the partnership, instead pocketing the cash “for his own personal gain.”
Wells Fargo Financial Services is also suing Girardi for allegedly breaching agreements he made with the bank.
Girardi’s health has also taken a hit in recent months: He was hospitalized for a “serious illness” in December 2020 and his brother Robert claimed he was suffering from short-term memory loss in January.
Robert subsequently began acting as Tom’s temporary conservator in February.
