Original “Bachelorette” Trista Sutter has revealed that her husband, Ryan Sutter, is battling a mystery illness and looking for answers.
In an Instagram post, Trista 48, said doctors ruled out the possibility that Ryan, 46, has cancer after he exhibited symptoms similar to those with Hodgkin’s lymphoma, which she said was a “huge relief.” However, the couple have not been able to find out why he is sick.
“Part of us was wanting a diagnosis,” she wrote in her Instagram caption. “Wanting to be able to fight for him to be cured instead of fighting for an answer. How messed up is that? Don’t worry, I know. It’s messed up. But, that’s where we are. In a holding pattern of not knowing.”
She further said, “This guy…my rock, my best friend, my hero, my love…is struggling. “Not everyday, and not to the point that he can’t work or cook or exercise or be with family, but enough.”
In the comments section, many fans shared their own personal stories.
Despite their struggles, Trista shared that she is “thankful” to have health insurance and the support of her loved ones.
“We lived a fairy tale on TV and have a great life for all intents and purposes, but answers would be nice,” she said. “So, I’m going to keep praying for answers and am hopeful that if you are the praying type, that you’ll think of Ryan when the time comes to send up a message.”
Friends sent their well wishes in the post, including the most recent “Bachelorette” Clare Crawley, who wrote, “Praying for your family Trista, for answers and for healing.”
Meanwhile, Ryan posted a prayer on his Instagram, and also shared a picture of him and his wife with the caption, “All we need is love…#thankyou.”
Trista and Ryan met and got engaged on the first season of “The Bachelorette” in 2003. They have been married for 17 years and share two children.
