Why Meghan Markle Wasn’t a Deal-Breaker for Prince Harry

When it was announced in 2016 that Prince Harry had begun dating American actress Meghan Markle, the world was in a frenzy. It was partly because Prince Harry himself is a high-profiled royal, but everyone was also paying attention to the fact that Markle was not the type of person many imagined Prince Harry would date.

However, the two of them ended up getting married in 2018, and they currently have one son together. Even though on the surface, Markle did not look like the “ideal” partner for Prince Harry, there was nothing about her that was a deal-breaker for him.

Prince Harry’s ex-girlfriends were mostly different from Meghan Markle

It’s easy to see why people did not expect Prince Harry to settle down with Markle. Throughout his life, there was a certain type of women that Prince Harry had mostly been seen dating: blondes who came from rich families.

His most famous ex-girlfriend was Chelsy Davy, who he had an on-and-off relationship with from 2004 to 2011. She was the daughter of a Zimbabwean millionaire, though she attended schools in England. Prince Harry and Davy reportedly broke up because she could not handle the pressure of being in the media all the time.

In 2009, Prince Harry was also seen with socialite Astrid Harbord, who was friends with Kate Middleton.

The prince also briefly dated singer Mollie King in 2010, though they parted ways because she was reportedly “too open about their relationship.”

Finally, a few years before he met Meghan Markle, Prince Harry was in a relationship with Cressida Bonas, who he met through Princess Eugenie. The pair tried to keep their romance on the down-low, so it’s still not clear why they broke up in 2014. However, it has been said that they are simply not compatible with each other.

Why Meghan Markle was not a deal-breaker for Prince Harry

Prince Harry met Meghan Markle via a mutual friend in 2016. She definitely is different from other girls that he dated. She was biracial and — even though her dad did win the lottery to send her to a private school — she still came from a more average, middle-class family.

However, Markle actually was the perfect bride for Prince Harry. She worked in Hollywood, so she was very used to being in the spotlight and she also understood how to behave in front of a camera — things that a few of Prince Harry’s ex-girlfriends were uncomfortable with.

Additionally, Markle also has a history of humanitarian work. She was even once named the United Nations Women’s Advocate for Women’s Political Participation and Leadership. Prince Harry is passionate about humanitarian work, so the two of them are no doubt a great match.

There are often reports in the media that Markle is not happy with royal life or that she and Prince Harry are growing apart. However, the signs that we have seen from the couple actually show the opposite: that their marriage is still going strong.

From the beginning, Prince Harry has shown that he has Markle’s back. When Markle was still his girlfriend, Prince Harry took a stand against the press who not only invaded her privacy but also were being racist towards her.

And more recently, as Markle continued to get negative reports written about her, Prince Harry wrote a sweet message for her on social media for her birthday. “Happy Birthday to my amazing wife. Thank you for joining me on this adventure! – Love, H,” he said.

Finally, body language experts have shared that Prince Harry and Markle show very positive body language when they are together. They often seem to be in sync and well-connected even when they are interacting with other people.
