Families are being given the chance to win a private zoo tour and get up-close and personal with their favourite animals in an exciting raffle draw.
The Royal Zoological Society of Scotland has teamed up with Crowdfunder to give one lucky person and three guests the opportunity to visit Edinburgh Zoo after hours and go behind the scenes with its magnificent resident animals.
The winner will have a personal guided tour and the opportunity to feed any five of the over a thousand endangered species that call the zoo home, including penguins, lions, meerkats and Yang Guang, the zoo’s world-famous panda.
The lucky entrant will also receive a luxurious hotel stay at the iconic Waldorf Astoria Edinburgh – The Caledonian, located in the heart of the city centre.
David Field, Royal Zoological Society of Scotland CEO, said: ‘Thankfully we have been able to reopen Edinburgh Zoo but having been closed for over five months has cost our charity more than £2million.
‘It has been wonderful to see our visitors enjoying our wide-open spaces and interacting with our amazing animals once again.
‘Our food bill alone is over £60,000 every month and our supporters have been fantastic. We want to thank them by giving them something to really look forward to. This is an incredible opportunity to get up close and personal with the animals they love.
‘One lucky person will be in with the chance of winning exclusive, after-hours access to the zoo with a personally guided tour with me and the opportunity to feed any five of our wonderful animals. Our winner might choose Yang Guang our world-famous giant panda, our cheeky penguins, lovely lions or marvellous meerkats.
‘To top it all off the winner will be treated to a delicious dinner and an overnight stay in the stunning Caledonian Hotel.’
Entries cost a £5 donation, and every donation counts as one entry.
The chosen winner can bring up to three guests and exceptions can be made for additional children to attend.
Simon Walker, Head of Projects for Crowdfunder, said ‘We’re delighted to be working with Edinburgh Zoo on their Crowdfunder prize draw.
‘It’s brilliant to see the Zoo we all know and love fundraising in such a pioneering manner (what a prize!), and with great success.
‘We can’t wait for the doors of the Zoo to open once more, but until that day this is a very fun way to ensure the animals have all the food they need. If you’re interested in winning something unique from Edinburgh zoo, you need to check out their Crowdfunder.’
