In news that will surely put a spring in anyone’s Monday morning, Adele has let slip her album is coming in September.
The singer was officiating a wedding for her pals at The Mason’s Arms in Battersea on the weekend (a pub that is now surely going to be enjoying a nice surge in patrons) when she grabbed the mic and shared some welcome information.
While the bash saw the British star belt out Rolling In The Deep and a cover of Candi Staton’s Young Hearts Run Free, she also informed guests attending the nuptials of former Maccabees star Hugo White and his author wife Laura Dockrill she’s working hard on those tunes.
In a clip doing the rounds on social media, Adele can be heard telling the room: ‘Expect my album in September.’
And in return the crowd let out an almighty cheer.
As did we. Because the star’s last LP 25 was released in 2015.
What a brilliant case of serendipity, eh?
The singer split with partner Simon Konecki last year and while we don’t want to rely on the fact a little bit of drama and heartbreak has created some epic tunes from Adele in the past, is it bad for us to expect amazing things?
Adele hinted at turning to the studio when she turned 31, as she said: ‘This is 31…thank f*cking god – 30 tried me so hard but I’m owning it and trying my hardest to lean in to it all.
‘For the first time in a decade I’m ready to feel the world around me and look up for once.’
She went on to joke of her next album, usually named after her ages: ‘30 will be a drum n bass record to spite you. Chin up, eh.’
