An AI has claimed that Britney Spears has been "replaced", with a fan on Instagram sharing "proof".

Pop legend Britney, 41, has sparked concern in recent months, with some fans thinking her accounts aren't controlled by her.

Instagram account BritneyIsNotFree has now shared a video where a fan uses AI to "enhance" a blurry photo from Britney's wedding.

Sharing the video clip on Instagram in the form of a reel, the account which claims Britney "is not free" despite being freed from her conservatorship, has said: "Nothing can convince me that’s her at this point."

In the video it shows a snap of Britney grinning on her wedding day to now-husband Sam Asghari, but the photo is heavily blurred and pixelated.

The photo is then put into an AI photo generator, which transforms the snap so that the pixels and blurriness has gone completely.

Once transformed, the photo looks a lot clearer, although fans think that because the AI generator appears to have distorted Britney's face – it's not really her.

After BritneyIsNotFree shared the video and spoke of not being convinced that it's her in the snap, divided Britney fans flocked to the comments.

"It hasn't been her in over a decade or more," penned one fan in agreement.

"Lol looks like Jessica Simpson. Weird," added another, with several other commenters saying the same thing.

A third person went on to say: "Explains the gloves so it covers the tattoo on her hand."

"The eye colour is wrong. [It] has Jessica Simpson's nose. Teeth don't match. No way," added a fourth.

To which someone replied: "What I was thinking. No matter how bad AI is, it wouldn't mess up her teeth that much."

Fans who thought the theory was just a conspiracy went on to say: "AI isn't reliable lol. These conspiracy theories are dumb. Let Britney live!!"

With a second writing: "I have this app and it makes everyone's face messed up like that if it's too pixelated or small."

And a third urging: "Using AI doesn't prove anything."
