BBCs Naga Munchetty suffers mortifying blunder but refuses to be ashamed

Naga Munchetty has recalled a rather awkward incident that she was involved with at the cinema – but admitted that she “doesn’t see the problem.”

The much-loved presenter, 48, has been a regular on BBC Breakfast for over 10 years – and has become a firm favourite with fans.

But it seems getting up at the crack of drawn to front a national TV show in the early mornings might be taking its toll on Naga.

Speaking on her BBC Radio 5 Live show, Naga revealed she regularly takes naps in public, and is no stranger to dozing off out and about.

She explained: “I’m not somebody who can be relied upon to stay awake all the time.

“I went to the cinema to see the new Barbie film. I had a 20-minute nap. I still know what the film was all about.”

Naga added: “I just think if it’s after work and you are in a warm, dark room, what do you expect?”

She then called it her super-power, adding: “I can curl up and sleep any time, anywhere.

"But I don’t necessarily think I should be doing it when I have company or in company."

Naga went on to admit she’s had a few cat naps during theatre and pop gigs, as well as two times at rugby matches.

The journalist also noted that she “refuses to be ashamed” of catching some Z’s in public places, adding: “I don’t see falling asleep in public as a problem.”

Naga has been back on TV screens this week – fronting the latest instalments of BBC Breakfast.

However, viewers have taken to social media to question where Charlie Stayt has been.

Charlie and co-host Naga usually front the show from Thursdays – Saturdays, but this week Charlie seems to be missing.

On Thursday's show (July 27), Naga was instead sat next to Ben Thompson, who filled in Charlie's space on the sofa.

And on Friday's episode (July 21), the presenter was missing for a second day in a row.

Ben was the man for the job again as he filled in the presenting slot.

Rushing to Twitter, viewers of the BBC show shared their concerns over Charlie.

One fan wrote: "What have you done with Charlie ?? #BBCBreakfast" while a second added: "#bbcbreakfast Who pulled Charlie off this morning?"
