The British singer’s star-studded album maintains its top position on this week’s chart, while the singing diva’s soundtrack album for the Disney movie arrives at No. 2.
AceShowbiz -The success of “The Lion King” on Box Office is apparently not enough to make its soundtrack album take over the top spot on Billboard 200. This week, Ed Sheeran‘s “No. 6 Collaborations Project” album rules the chart for the second time with 78,000 equivalent album units that were sold in the week ending July 25, according to Nielsen Music.
With that, the star-studded effort marks the first album to spend its first two weeks at No. 1 in four months following Juice WRLD‘s “Death Race for Love”, which opened at No. 1 on Marxh 23 and held its top position in the following week. Additionally, “No. 6” album spends a second week atop Top Album Sales chart with 16,000 units in traditional album sales.
Following behind Ed’s album is Beyonce Knowles‘ “The Lion King: The Gift” soundtrack album. Launching at No. 2, the 14-track effort sold 54,000 in its first week. It marks the singing diva’s ninth top ten effort and her second new top ten of 2019, following “Homecoming: The Live Album”. With that, she becomes the first female soloist to have two top ten albums this year.
Billie Eilish‘s “When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?” descends to No. 3 with 51,000 units, while Lil Nas X‘s “7” holds its No. 4 position with 43,000 units. At No. 5, Dreamville’s compilation album “Revenge of the Dreamers III” moves down two spots with 41,000 units.
Chris Brown‘s “Indigo” follows closely behind at No. 6 with 37,000 units, as Lizzo‘s “Cuz I Love You” falls to No. 7 with 33,000 units. At No. 8, Khalid‘s “Free Spirit” continues to climb down the chart with 32,000 units, followed by Post Malone‘s “Beerbongs & Bentleys” at No. 9. The latter effort sold an additional 25,000 units.
Rounding out the top ten for this week is a new entry, Nas‘ “The Lost Tapes 2”. The album arrives at No. 10 with 23,000 units.
