ITV's The Chase presenter, Bradley Walsh, who has presented the game show for more than a decade, revealed the secret rule he has to abide by.
The 61-year-old funnyman has been a much-loved part of the show since it first hit our screens in 2009 – he has since presented more than 1,860 episodes.
Bradley opened up about the show's hidden rule and revealed how he is watched like a hawk by lawyers due to the show's time limit on questions.
He disclosed how he's constantly examined whilst he delivers questions to contestants and the shows six chasers Mark Labbett, Shaun Wallace, Anne Hegerty, Paul Sinha, Jenny Ryan and Darragh Ennis, in case he stutters or misreads them.
During one episode, Bradley was forced to stop in an unfortunate circumstance after he tripped over a question's wording, which caused quite a reaction.
He was 'stopped immediately' by lawyers on the popular quiz show and forced to read the question again.
Bradley said in an interview with Radio Times: "If there is a slight misread, I am stopped immediately – bang – by the lawyers. We have the compliance lawyers in the studio all the time."
Bradley disclosed what happens behind-the-scenes if the situation occurs.
He added: "What you have to do is go back to the start of the question, literally on videotape where my mouth opens – or where it's closed from the previous question – and the question is re-asked. It is stopped to the split second."
Followed by: "It means no time is lost for either the contestant or the chaser."
Bradley has hosted the show for 13 years and has worked out that it takes to an average of 3.6 to 4.0 seconds to ask each question.
The Chase icon has also unveiled that 18 or 19 correct answers in the Final Chase round is viewed as a 'banana skin score' – as it can trip up the chasers when they are up against the clock.
The Chase is on Weekdays at 5 pm on ITV and ITV Player.
