Brian May shares John Deacon pic but John Taylor says ‘We haven’t spoken for years’: WHY?

The Queen singer-songwriter and guitarist shared a beautiful memory with his millions of followers on Instagram. It shows May with bandmates Taylor and Deacon, although Freddie is mysteriously missing. It’s a happy reminder of the good times, when the band was still together, although fans are currently enjoying the latest incarnation. UK fans will finally get their chance to see the new world tour from Queen and Adam Lambert when it hits our shores in June.

May captioned the new post and included a credit to the fansite which originally posted the photograph: “I don’t know where @39shadesofclogs finds these things but … thanks !!!

“A little piece of history here Rog, great actor John Hurt, Deacy, me, and Dominique, Roger’s lady. Around 1980? But I’m guessing. Bri.”

Roger Taylor married Dominique Beyrand in 1988, although they had been dating since 1977. The couple had two children but divorced when Taylor fell in love with Deborah Leng, with whom he has three children. In 2010 the drummer married current partner Sarina Potgieter.

  • Freddie Mercury: John Deacon’s SPECIAL contribution to Queen

Although the current incarnation of the band keeps Freddie’ legacy alive, the other living member has nothing to do with the latest tour.

Indeed, Deacon made no official public appearances when the movie Bohemian Rhapsody reignited global excitement about Queen.

Taylor and Deacon have both spoken (somewhat differently) about their bandmates withdrawal from public view, as well as from their own lives.

Taylor was asked if Deacon had even seen the film and told Mojo magazine: “No idea. We don’t have any contact with John.

“I wonder if one of his kids might have been to see it. Who knows?”

In another interview, he admitted they had little to no contact and he hadn’t spoken to his bandmate for “over a decade… I haven’t heard a squeak from John, not a single guttural grunt.”

May explained the lack of contact in a little more depth: “John doesn’t want to be (involved).

“He’s in his own space and we respect that. It’s a shame because we would love to have him around but he doesn’t want to be in that arena anymore…

“He just doesn’t want to be walking those roads.”

Taylor had said the legendary bassist took the death of Freddie Mercury particularly hard and was unable to remain part of the band afterwards.

Taylor said; “After Freddie died, it took me a year to even start to want to think about doing things. I just thought ‘Settle down and try and live with the present and see how you feel”

“John freaked out and decided he really couldn’t deal with being in the music business anymore, It was an odd period. Really the band was over.”

May says the band still send Deacon updates on all Queen projects like the recent film, as well as all financial reports.

Deacon, meanwhile, lives quietly with his wife in Putney, London, in the same house he bought with his first major royalties from Queen.
