The pop star could not contain her delight as her epic fight with Jamie, 69, over his conservatorship finally started to edge her way. She now wants to end the legal control of her personal life and finances, and for her father Jamie to be charged with “conservatorship abuse”. Britney, 39, broke down in tears in court as she won the right to have her own lawyer represent her. She later posted a video of herself on Instagram doing cartwheel after cartwheel, below inset.

And she shared a clip of herself on a horse and wrote: “Coming along, folks…coming along” with the hashtag #FreeBritney.

She added: “New with real representation today. I feel GRATITUDE and BLESSED!!!! Thank you to my fans who are supporting me…You have no idea what it means to be supported by such awesome fans !!!! God bless you all !!!!!

“Pssss this is me celebrating by horseback riding and doing cartwheels today!!!!”

Britney’s actor boyfriend Sam Asghari, 27, also showed his support by posting an Instagram image with the message: “Free Britney.”

Earlier, the LA court approved her choice of attorney – Mathew Rosengart – who will take over her case after the last one quit.

It means that for the first time since the conservatorship controlling her life started in 2008, she has a lawyer of her own choosing representing her.

The tearful singer, whose hits include Toxic and Oops I Did It Again, told the court by phone that she wanted her father charged with abusing his position of power.

She said: “I would like to charge my father with conservatorship abuse. I want to press charges against my father today.

“I want an investigation into my dad.” The mother of two then described the torment of her conservatorship, in a repeat of her explosive June 23 testimony. Last month she said she was not allowed to marry or have more children.

This week she claimed her father and others had threatened her, and added: “There should be no threats to me at all, ever. I have serious abandonment issues.” She also said that her car keys, hair vitamins and coffee had all been taken from her.

“Ma’am, that’s not abuse, that’s just f****** cruelty,” she tearfully told Judge Brenda Penny. “Excuse my language but it’s the truth.”

“I thought they were trying to kill me. If this is not abuse, I don’t know what is.” Breaking down again, Britney requested a short break to compose herself.

She is trying to have the conservatorship terminated without the need for a medical assessment.

But she said her priority was ousting her father from his role as sole controller of her £43million estate while allowing co-conservator Jodi Montgomery – in charge of her wellbeing – to remain.

Britney said: “My dad needs to be removed today and I will be happy with Jodi helping me.

“I’m here to press charges. I’m angry and I will go there.”

Mr Rosengart said he would be filing paperwork in the next few weeks to end the arrangement.

After the hearing he added: “We will be moving promptly and aggressively for [Jamie’s] removal. The question remains, why is he involved? He should step down voluntarily because that’s what’s in the best interest of the conservatee.”
