Britney Spears admitted she felt “so awkward” while filming Carpool Karaoke with Gavin and Stacey star James Corden in an unearthed interview.

The Princess of Pop, 40, took part in the comedy segment for the Late Late Show back in 2016 and it’s fair to say viewers noticed the star wasn’t entirely comfortable during the cheeky TV clip.

It appeared as though the artist was a little embarrassed during the experience after becoming visibly annoyed with the 44-year-old talk show host for playing her songs during the pre-filmed segment.

After the highly anticipated episode hit the airwaves, the blonde bombshell was allegedly mocked by viewers for miming along to her infamous hit songs in the car including her number one hit single Baby One More Time and Opps!… I Did It Again.

In a resurfaced interview with radio station 103.WKTU, the mum-of-two opened up about her cringe-worthy experience on the American talk show.

She said: “It was a little awkward, like, driving by grocery stores. People walk by and there are like 18 cameras around us.

“This is just so awkward. Sometimes I got on to him and said, ‘I don’t want to hear that song again’. They probably didn’t show that part.”

The blonde beauty went on to admit how uncomfortable she felt after the comic donned her signature high school costume with a matching blonde wig which had been styled into pigtails from her 2009 music video.

Britney added: “Oh my God, and he kept playing them! He put a damn wig on for it. Yeah I totally went along with it.”

At the time, a source told Capital FM that the pop sensation enjoyed her time on the CBS show: “Britney did enjoy herself on the show and she wasn’t being negative.”

It comes after the British comic addressed the ongoing restaurant backlash after he came under fire for his rude behaviour at a popular Manhattan restaurant.

On Tuesday, the TV host shared a statement on the show in which he apologised for his actions after “walking around thinking he’d done nothing wrong.”

He said: “I didn’t shout or scream, I didn’t get up out of my seat, I didn’t call anyone names or use derogatory language.

“But the truth is I have made a rude, rude comment. And it was wrong. It was an unnecessary comment, it was ungracious to the server.”
