Carol Vorderman has thanked her followers for their "outpouring of love" after son Cameron King joined her on ITV's This Morning to discuss the challenges he's faced over the years.
Speaking to presenters Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby on Wednesday's programme, Carol, 60, spoke openly about the education system and how her son first struggled to find his feet due to the lack of support available at the time.
Cameron, 24, has severe forms of ADD, dyslexia and ADHD but has managed to achieve a first class honours degree and a Masters degree.
Taking to Instagram after the programme, the mother-of-two shared a snap of Cameron with the ITV hosts along with a lengthy message to her fans and said she is still "determined" to make a change now.
The star penned: "Cameron on @thismorning with @hollywilloughby and schofe….talking about his severe learning difficulties and how he has taught himself strategies to overcome them.
"Now with a first class honours degree and also a Masters degree he starts a job as a 3D animator next week. I'm so so so proud of him after years of bullying and struggles."
The star went on to say how devastated she was to discover so many parents contacting her to talk about their children's struggles in the education system.
She continued: "What was heart-breaking was the level and number of stories from parents who rang or messaged in about other children going through the same with little support educationally.
"I know the pain and I'm determined now to hold organisations to account. These children don't fit into a system designed for others….but they have beautiful minds….we need them in our world to think outside of the box.
"Nearly half of self made business people have learning difficulties. Many geniuses in all walks of life have the same. Once they have made it their strength their resilience to 'failure' is immense, very little can harm them."
She concluded by saying: "I'm determined to do something now and help. Please watch this space. And thank you for the outpouring of love for my baby boy (now 6'5)."
Fans were clearly moved by Carol's words and headed straight to the comment section to share their views.
One fan penned: "Congratulations Cameron and well done for never giving up!! Carol your such an inspiration and please help us SEN parents get the support we need. We back you and will support you every step of the way."
Another chimed in a said: "I started today feeling sadder than I’ve ever felt at the realisation of what the future may hold for my son. I’m now feeling a little more hopeful. Thank you. x."
Meanwhile a third follower wrote: "Amazing work Guys…keep going."
Mathematician Carol shares her two children Katie and Cameron with her second husband Patrick King, who she was married to for ten years.
