Children's Song "Baby Shark" Officially Goes Diamond

PINKFONG and Smart Study’s children song and dance video “Baby Shark” has officially gone diamond.

The song’s newest certification points to over 11 million records sold, making “Baby Shark” the 41st track in history to receive this RIAA certification. It joins the ranks of The Weeknd‘s “The Hills,” Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars‘ “Uptown Funk” and Ed Sheeran’s “Thinking Out Loud” to name a few.

In addition to the new diamond plaque, the kids’ song has 7,167,750,155 YouTube views as of writing, outdoing the numbers of Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee’s “Despacito” to become the most-viewed video on the platform.

“Without the love and support of fans around the world, Baby Shark’s new record would have been impossible,” Min Seok Kim, CEO of SmartStudy, said in a statement. “We’re very honored by this record and will continue to focus on delivering high-quality entertainment beyond the digital platforms.”

In related news, Post Malone and Swae Lee’s “Sunflower” also received its diamond certification.
